I don't get it.

> cd /usr/ports/devel/psptoolchain-gcc-stage1
> make maintainer
ports@FreeBSD.org

Why did it say "[maintainer]" on the title?
Comment 2 Tassilo Philipp 2014-07-27 15:46:59 UTC
I don't understand that either. I was the maintainer, and I received the "staging support needed" email for that port. So I did support staging. I'm sorry if I missed something - I looked again in my inbox, and I never got any note about the maintainer being set to ports@

All the stragglers (unstaged / maintained ports) were reset in large patches. It was on the order of a 1000 ports.

I understood that the nag messages warned that after a certain port this would happen. The actual reset was not mailed though.

I haven't seen the nag messages myself, but I am under the impression they were sent for months on a periodic basis.

It's not big deal, just reclaim the ports if you want. I'd update all the patches to put yourself back as the maintainer.

Will do. Thank you.
I quickly checked and noticed that devel/psptoolchain-binutils, which is not part of my 7 submitted bug reports as that port seemed to already support staging, had also the maintainer removed. I'll create a patch for it, also, however, what should I put in the title, then? [former maintainer]?
Comment 5 John Marino freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2014-07-27 15:59:17 UTC
Just put "devel/psptoolchain-binutils: request maintainership" in the title.

Technically you don't even need a patch to change that one line, but it wouldn't hurt either. You can mention you were the previous maintainer. It doesn't matter as you'll get the port either way.

you know what, forget it, I'll assign that one right now.
