ok, I'm moving this to patch-ready. A commit references this bug: Author: marino Date: Thu Sep 25 20:52:28 UTC 2014 New revision: 369295 URL: http://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/ports/369295 Log: java/java3d: Set to dual GPLv2 and MIT licensing PR: 193186 Submitted by: pfg@ After examining the LICENSE files in the existing tarball, Pedro came to the conclusion that the license is a combination between GPLv2 and some MIT-like licenses. The package is redistributable; the outdated restriction is probably left over from a previous version, so it has been removed. Changes: head/java/java3d/Makefile Thanks! |
Created attachment 146581 [details] Update license description The license section in the Java3D Homepage says: _____ The source code for the j3d-core-utils and j3d-examples projects is licensed under the open source Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) License. The source code for the j3d-core and vecmath projects is licensed under the open source GNU General Public License (GPL), version 2, with the CLASSPATH exception. This is the same open-source license that OpenJDK is now using. Each of the above projects may contains third-party source code that is provided under separate licensing terms. These terms are are found in the THIRDPARTY-LICENSE-*.txt files in the top level-directory of each project. See README-FIRST.txt in each project for more information. Projects other than the four named above are licensed under terms defined by the particular sub-project. _____ After examining the LICENSE files in the existing tarball I got to the conclusion that the license is a combination between GPLv2 and some MIT-like licenses. The package is redistributable and the outdated restriction note is probably leftover from a previous version.
