Unless there is a plan to upgrade the port to 2.24.23 really soon (see bug #191177), then I propose to add the following patch to the port:

to fix the following bug:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=705367
To me the leak manifested itself as such:

Gtk20 was updated to 2.24.25 fixes this issue.
