Older version works but fail the communication (like other platforms and with newer version, probably due to protocol change).
Comment 1 Johannes Jost Meixner freebsd_committer 2014-09-22 09:08:05 UTC

Skype 4.3 needs a newer GLIBC, which Fedora 10 does not provide. On top of that, 4.3 needs syscalls that are not yet present in FreeBSD's Linux emulation layer, and will most likely not run for a few weeks to months.

Comment 2 John Marino freebsd_committer 2014-10-10 13:14:45 UTC
Johannes, so how do we disposition this PR?
Can you take it or close it?
Comment 3 John Marino freebsd_committer 2014-10-31 19:44:29 UTC
Too bad xmj didn't provide any feedback. I'm moving this out of "triage" and into Siberia (open status). I don't know what else to do with it.
Comment 4 Johannes Jost Meixner freebsd_committer 2014-11-01 13:06:09 UTC
There's currently no fix for the problems yet.

I've taken it and will mark it resolved once net-im/skype4 works as intended, even though this might take a few months.
Comment 5 Walter Schwarzenfeld freebsd_triage 2018-01-18 00:09:49 UTC
Is this still relevant?
Comment 6 Toni Ballesta 2018-01-18 18:19:56 UTC
(In reply to w.schwarzenfeld from comment #5)
Skype? Oh no, never! (and it will not for nothing)

The Skype 4.x support is ended, so it will be removed from the ports:

Now it seems to be the 5.4 beta:

If is not possible to add the new version on the ports tree, it can be removed of there forever...

Comment 7 Walter Schwarzenfeld freebsd_triage 2018-01-18 18:50:15 UTC
Ups, that was not the right reaction. Reopen.
Comment 8 Johannes Jost Meixner freebsd_committer 2018-04-07 04:43:53 UTC

We should probably mark for expiry and then delete net-im/skype and net-im/skype4 as they're no longer supported by the MS infrastructure.

The last few times I took a look at porting any newer version, it always lacked some syscall or other, which made porting impossible.

Comment 9 Rene Ladan freebsd_committer 2019-03-06 21:38:58 UTC
Expired port removed.
