Hi, Skype 4.3 needs a newer GLIBC, which Fedora 10 does not provide. On top of that, 4.3 needs syscalls that are not yet present in FreeBSD's Linux emulation layer, and will most likely not run for a few weeks to months. Best -xmj Johannes, so how do we disposition this PR? Can you take it or close it? Too bad xmj didn't provide any feedback. I'm moving this out of "triage" and into Siberia (open status). I don't know what else to do with it. There's currently no fix for the problems yet. I've taken it and will mark it resolved once net-im/skype4 works as intended, even though this might take a few months. Is this still relevant? (In reply to w.schwarzenfeld from comment #5) Skype? Oh no, never! (and it will not for nothing) The Skype 4.x support is ended, so it will be removed from the ports: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/forum/skype_linux-skype_startms-skype_installms/end-of-life-of-skype-for-linux-43/70fe7036-ddf3-4fa3-9c06-1bca3ec0226c?auth=1 Now it seems to be the 5.4 beta: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/skype/forum/skype_linux-skype_startms-skype_installms/whats-new-in-skype-54-for-linux-beta/8cd9c2e4-536f-4151-9af2-53f526d1d0f2 If is not possible to add the new version on the ports tree, it can be removed of there forever... Regards. Ups, that was not the right reaction. Reopen. Morning, We should probably mark for expiry and then delete net-im/skype and net-im/skype4 as they're no longer supported by the MS infrastructure. The last few times I took a look at porting any newer version, it always lacked some syscall or other, which made porting impossible. Best -xmj Expired port removed. |
