Testing it right now.

Can you have a look at it, as you are the maintainer of the unifi2 and 3 port ?
Comment 3 Alban MAIRE 2014-10-29 09:11:38 UTC
Hi Kurt,

No, I'm not the maintainer of the unifi2 and 3 port.

I use the scripts for create unifi4.

From what I've seen, Mark Felder who is the maintainer of unifi2 and 3.

In the Makefile i writed :

# This Makefile is based on (unifi2 & unifi3) of Mark Felder <feld@FreeBSD.org>

Best regards :)

Nice to see v4 is now public. I'm testing this. As maintainer of the other two Unifi ports you're always welcome ask me if you have any questions in the future if you run into problems.

First impressions: I spotted a missing WWW in pkg-descr and there are some strange extra tabs probably from the submitter trying to make it align in their editor of choice. Nothing too critical. I'll post a svn patch after my testing is complete.

Just a reminder -- this needs to be added to LEGAL like the other unifi ports.

Should unifi4 replace -2 and -3 ?

Alban: Would it be OK if feld@ becomes maintainer for -4 ?

Mark: Would you do it 8-) ?

I think it would be better to keep the versions 2 and 3 for the moment, the new interface is a bit confusing.

I'm ok, it's perfect! :)

Thank you very much to both !

Unfortunately it cannot. The Unifi software also ships the firmware for the equipment it manages. There are major changes between 2 and 3 (though not so much 3 and 4) which causes problems for some users who upgrade. Also, at some point newer releases won't ship with compatible firmware for older hardware. I don't have specific examples, but it could leave some endusers stranded. It's best to keep each version around as long as Ubiquiti hasn't EoL'd it.

Sure, no problem. I'll take this bug report as well.

It runs. It seems OK. It has been committed!

Thanks Alban! Feel free to contact me if you notice there's an update I haven't submitted to the ports tree. :-)
