With the change of the default NetCDF version to 4, and corresponding change of the library version, the use netcdf knob does nothing in the port. Changing that by hand resulted in compilation failure due to some API changes that I could not track down quickly.

Upstream is aware and working on NetCDF 4 support. I mark the NETCDF option broken  until it fixed.
