Description Jacco van Buuren 2015-04-28 09:01:21 UTC
On a Dell R320 a fresh 10.1-RELEASE AMD64 install fails any connectivity with bgeX interfaces (NetXtreme BCM5720 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe).

'ifconfig bgeX a.b.c.d/z up' shows 'no carrier', although there certainly is one (verified on switch).

Hi Freebsd support team,

I'm very intrested freeBSD systems. I could install freebsd-amd64 system
on Dell PowerEdge R620 server. But one problem is maybe not supporting
BCM5720 NIC.

I see log file: bge0: 2 link states coalesced
bge0: link state changed to UP
bge0: link state changed to DOWN
bge0: link state changed to UP
bge0: link state changed to DOWN
bge0: link state changed to UP
bge0: link state changed to DOWN
                ......

How to fix it this problem. And I thinks maybe this freebsd version is
not supporting BCM cards. If this freebsd not support BCM5720. Maybe next
version is supported ?

Please can you help me.

Best Regards,
Ochkhuu Jeelkham

Hi Support Team,

We too have the same issue. We have Dell R730 with BCM5720 Quad Port NIC. we are also no carrier error. Looks like bge driver issue.

Kindly help on this.
