I found via https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nessus_%28software%29 that there is a version 2.2.11 of nessus which can be found at http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-12.1/network/nessus/2.2.11/src/

I will look into that. As I haven't done anything on these ports in the recent past this will take some time. The more general question is wether we still want to have nessus in this old version in the ports tree.

I'm working on an update of the openvas ports. Once that's committed we can mark nessus deprecated with an expiration date 6 months from now or so. Then you don't have to work on this update.

Great! Much appreciated.

A commit references this bug:

Author: tijl
Date: Thu Mar 17 13:05:54 UTC 2016
New revision: 411280
URL: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/ports/411280

Log:
Mark Nessus ports deprecated. Nessus became proprietary closed-source
software many years ago and the ports are now outdated. A good alternative
is OpenVAS which started as a fork of the open-source Nessus.
