Description Peter Wemm freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2016-08-03 03:40:04 UTC
The file-a-bug page asks what hardware you're running on. It's vague, but if somebody reads the help to for a clarification, it says something even worse:

"Hardware
The hardware platform the bug was observed on. .."

This leads to an endless stream of junk being assigned to the freebsd-amd64 users list., eg:

[Bug 210986] Conflict ZFS with GEOM ?
[Bug 211179] libc strcoll() enters endless loop when comparing two specific UTF8 strings under en_US.UTF-8
[Bug 211195] pw userdel Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[Bug 210142] makewhatis binary is requerd for building release even with WITHOUT_MAN_UTILS=YES
[Bug 211360] ESC characters are not interpreted by /bin/sh

This is just a random sample. It has basically killed the mailing list.

Please, stop this madness.

Peter,

I think I fixed this issue. The problem was some regression in logic introduced as a solution for bug #196909

Please let us know if mailing lists still receives irrelevant emails.

Judging from freebsd-amd64 traffic in archives this issue should be fixed now.
