I tried installing TrueOS on my (spare) laptop. It failed and I registered the following ticket: https://github.com/trueos/trueos-core/issues/91

It got closed as the problem was not TrueOS specific. We where able to replicate it using FreeBSD-12.0-CURRENT-amd64-20160829-r305028-memstick.img.

It was suggested to me I register a bug here.

The second of the two 2016 photographs from <https://github.com/trueos/trueos-core/issues/91#issuecomment-254068020>.

Visually, helping to distinguish this bug from more recent bug 244906 (kernel booted by loader.efi on VMware Fusion crashes in EFI firmware), which to my untrained eye is also an installer hang of sorts.

I strongly suspect that this 2016 bug will be no longer reproducible.

Mattias: if you find otherwise – with the latest FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT, or with 13.2-RC6 – please reopen, or make a new report, with additional details. Thank you.
