    Attempting to change passwords with the /usr/bin/passwd executable
    on 4.1.1 machine #1 results in the following error:

passwd: cannot set password cipher: Undefined error: 0
passwd: /etc/master.passwd: unchanged

    On a machine that was cvsup'd a day later:

passwd: (null): Permission denied
passwd: /etc/master.passwd: unchanged
