While it is silly to define a shell variable containing non-shell-variable characters, I still think this example addition is helpful if somebody is deep into network design and forgets basics about how the operating system will handle ;-) |
Created attachment 183146 [details] Additional example for vlans_ demonstrating punct-translation Hello, topic should explain my intention. Today, again, I tried to use 'create_args_lagg0.dmz='. Then, again, I inspected /etc/network.subr, found the issue, corrected my config to 'create_args_lagg0_dmz=' and suddenly remembered having done the same already multiple times over the last years. I also remembered, that when I first used the IF-rename feature in rc.conf(5), I found the examples very helpful but was missing the punct->_ translation. Maybe that little addition could help people using their preferred naming scheme; the script does provide everything needed to do so! -harry
