Two URLs point to "A Kinder, Gentler HTML Validator" point a web site that is, probably, no longer supported. See the links near the end of section 3.2: Elements, Tags, and Attributes.

Perhaps DSB has left Duke.

Fix: 

Unknown. A search for "gentler html validator" turned up:

  http://ugweb.cs.ualberta.ca/~gerald/validate/

but that simply suggested using the W3C HTML Validation Service:

   http://validator.w3.org

I can't find "[m]ore information about errors from nsgmls(1)" there.
