Bug 22559

Summary: Does not recognize cdrom in X
Product: Base System Reporter: mgosr <mgosr>
Component: i386Assignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description mgosr 2000-11-03 02:40:00 UTC
even as root, I cannot get the acd0c to be recognized even though it installs from cdrom fine. I receive one consistent error message during install involving aoutlib 3.3.1 error-1 see debug.

I'll admit I'm a newbie, but I have used nearly every major OS and program language. I am VERY interested in BSD over Linux because of it's heritage. I purchased the boxed set at $70 and would like to get my money's worth.

I certainly appreciate any help I can get. I'll answer questions as best I can, including consumer experiences. I would really like to see BSD become more prevalent as I think the Wendoze OS's are fairly hoaky.

The best that I can tell you now is that unless I can get some support, I can't recommend FreeBSD, but I would sure like to.

Fix:

Help!!!

This isn't really a PR.

Please send a detailed description of exactly what it is you're
trying to do to <questions@FreeBSD.org>.

From your PR, I couldn't figure out whether you'd already got
FreeeBSD installed, were trying to install X, already had
X running, couldn't access your CDROM device from some
third-party application in X...

Showing the commands you run and the exact errors they produce
will help.
