The games/spring release in ports is 98.0, which was released in 2014. The current version is 104.0.1.

Current git master requires Java for the Java AI parts; I don't know if that applies to the most recent release. You can avoid it with CMAKE_ARGS+=-DAI_TYPES=C, although that obviously limits the AI types available.

Current git master also requires graphics/devil.

Closing this as I'm-not-interested-anymore; I'm pretty sure I filed this while looking at Boost updates in 2018, but this old Spring release no longer breaks on every Boost update (the CMake bits have gotten better).
