Description frodef 2000-11-27 20:30:01 UTC
I'm using FreeBSD STABLE on a HP Kayak XU with an on-board AD1816
audio device. It works well, except about 30-50% of the times the
audio device is opened (i.e. xmms starts to play a song), something
goes very wrong. The volume gets extremely loud, and anything but
extremely low-volume sounds is distorted beyond recognition, mosly
producing pure noise. The same happened when I used CURRENT a few
months ago, and the problem has existed now for several months.

Does this problem still occur in more recent releases?

Submitter says that he hasn't used FreeBSD on that machine recently.
[The reply was a while ago, but I mislaid it].
