Bug 23339

Summary: ntp version is 4.0.99b -- current version is 4.0.99k
Product: Base System Reporter: jmt <jmt>
Component: miscAssignee: Ollivier Robert <roberto>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.2-STABLE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description jmt 2000-12-06 22:10:01 UTC
I have a laptop I'm using as a time server. I use the Motorola Oncore
M12 GPS receiver as a local clock. This receiver only functions
properly with more recent versions of ntp 4.0.99 -- j or k. The
version that comes with FreeBSD is 4.0.99b, and the version in ports
is 4.0.99i.

Fix:

Use 4.0.99k -- available from
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/ntp_spool/ntp4/ntp-4.0.99k.tar.gz
or ftp://ftp.udel.edu/pub/ntp/ntp4/ntp-4.0.99k.tar.gz
How-To-Repeat: Install 4.2-STABLE via cvsup, and build and install the world. The
version of /usr/sbin/ntpd will be 4.0.99b.

Ollivier, you did the import of ntp 4.0.99b.
Can you please have a look at this, and consider importing 4.0.99k
if you feel it is worth the work.

I'd rather wait for 4.1.0.
