After setting BSD box as ypserver (salve) and then trying to bind to itself... the system hanged 
for a long time.. I then restarted and startup won't go beyond checking quotas
initialization. Thanks for your help..

Hi,

 I just realized what I did wrong.. while setting ypbind I accidentally added an entry to bind to the IP 127.0.0.1 intead of the local IP... so that created the whole issue. Thanks for your help anyways,,
