Manpage still refers to svn syntax which doesn't work with git and there's also no way to "checkout" a specific commit using git clone.

I'm aware of this, and it is on my todo list, but please bear with me/us while the transition to git from subversion is finalized.

Sure, I actually assumed that you did and mainly created this PR so it doesn't get lost. Thanks for spending time on improving it.
