Description barry 2001-02-27 11:00:00 UTC
I use a GIGABYTE GA-6BXU Mainboard with onboard adaptec SCSI Controller
aic7xxx and have a new IBM SCSI HDD (LVD 160) .
When booting from FreeBSD4.0 I also see the error message
'ahc0: Signaled A Target Abort' .
Now I tried to install FreeBSD4.2 - but the machine stops after this
error message .
I changed a cables, terminators, ... but have still the same problem .

How-To-Repeat: Can I use FreeBSD4.2 with an adaptec aic7xxx SCSI Controller or should
I better buy a new mainboard ?
Does anybody knows about this problem ?
What can I do to fix it (changes in the BIOS, use another boot disk,
...) ?

Try updating the BIOS of the SCSI [probably part of the motherboard BIOS]
or try 4.4-RELEASE or STABLE, see if that helps.
