Description Graham Perrin freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2021-05-22 15:15:17 UTC
Amongst the caveats in the manual page for boot1.efi(8):

> • There's no support for marking partitions as the preferred one. See
> gptboot.efi(8).

% man gptboot.efi
No manual entry for gptboot.efi
% freebsd-version ; uname -KU
14.0-CURRENT

Comment 1 Graham Perrin freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2021-05-22 15:23:59 UTC
% man 8 boot1.efi | tail -n 17
   Caveats
     • The order in which file systems are tried is undefined.

     • No encryption support is available.

     • There's no way to interrupt the boot process to select booting from
         some other location.

     • When configuring a serial console for FreeBSD, but not for UEFI, no
output will show up on the serial console from boot1.efi.

     • There's no support for marking partitions as the preferred one. See
         gptboot.efi(8).

     • There's no support for boot-once functionality. See gptboot.efi(8).

Comment 2 Felix Johnson freebsd_triage 2021-10-01 20:41:59 UTC
gptboot.efi(8) lives under stand/efi/gptboot/gptboot.efi.8
I do not know why it is not installed by default.

This needs a makefile patch, not a documentation patch.
