I need to reset each time I login the date and time settings

I change it by right clicking on the date/time widget and Adjust Date and Time
then I chose Change Date and Time automatically by checking the box, password is being asked and then the time changes to the right time for my tz são paulo/Brazil 

I open it again and the box is already not checked anymore and so the settings are forgotten on shutting down

I have the same Kde Plasma on some Linux and this problem does not exist there

 if you think this is not a FBSD issue ok, but I don't believe that the kde people will fix anything since the linuxes are working fine, so I believe something is missing here

Thanks for your report Michael. Can you provide some additional information, including:

- uname -a output
- pkg version -v output (as an attachment)

Also, is this a recent regression (change in behaviour). If so, do you recall between what versions the symptoms started? If not, how long has the issue been present for?

Yes, that is an issue that has persisted, probably since the KDE4 days already. 

You only can chose the time zone for your user in the applet, however, you are not able to change the system time -- which obviously requires root permissions, but for which the handler is not working. 

You can use the system daemons ntp/ntpdate to synchronize time, and use and link   /etc/localtime to your time zone.

It is since I installed this 13 for desktop use, só I can not help so very much about the issue history

I can say that I have ntpdate_enable="YES" in rc.conf so the OS time is ok, but kde desktop not and I don't understand what kde do not pick the system time if the same tz as in OS is set 

what Tobias wrote about the persistence clicked button for automatic time setting is another issue, I remember well and it was fixed at least for Linux

enabling ntp via ntpdate_enable=YES is a workaround to get the clock right but the button has still no effect

after the recent upgrades the problem still persist

time ago I have reported the same problem on Kde Neon and they fixed it, once checked the "set date and time automatically" button it stays checked, in freebsd packages it isn't permanent

the proposed work around is not acceptable because the PC might have its own timezone and the desktop can use another, so it is necessary to fix this thing

Is sysutils/plasma5-systemsettings more appropriate?

in system settings the tick box for automatic date/time setting is disabled

the former dialog here was about the date/time setting widget
