Committed, thanks.  I don't like your patches, but I assume you 
got them merged into the vendor's code or are at least attempting 
to.  Patches like these really should be regexes, but.. anyway, 
changed -D_THREAD_SAFE to ${PTHREAD_CFLAGS}.
