A 1GB scp of files from a remote host to the problem machine caused it to reboot with the following error message:

 TO scb(9, 255)
> ahc0: ahc_intr - referenced scb not valid during SELTO scb(9, 255)
(repeated 80 times)
> (da0:ahc0:0:0:0): Synchronize cache failed, status == 0xb, scsi status == 0x0
> Automatic reboot in 15 seconds - press a key on the console to abort
