Upstream is somewhat active, can't find any direct references to FFmpeg in upstream commit log. No users in tree, drop port?

Users are not in the tree, they are IRL.  Just disable FFMPEG if it bothers you, but please stop removing otherwise presumably working software.

Current version is almost 10 years old so I'd consider opal to be unmaintained at this point and I can assure you that VoIP has progressed in the last 10 years or so.

It also looks like newer versions are avaiable with recent activity and last stable release in 2022.

    Current version is about 10y old and unsupported upstream.
    No one has stepped up to maintain opal so set expiration date.
