With the inception of Ghostscript 10, 9 is not supported anymore and it has several open issues which are partially based on the custom patches applied.

This PR is for discussing when and how to remove it from tree. A possible date is 2023-12-31. So in six months.

By the by I think on a separate bug you should also request for an exp-run with the removal patch.

    Ghostscript 10 has been released more than a year ago. From that date
    Ghostscript 9 is not supported by upstream anymore.
