Bug 27415

Summary: Mouse inop in X Windows
Product: Base System Reporter: rmartin <rmartin>
Component: miscAssignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description rmartin 2001-05-17 23:20:04 UTC
The mouse does not work in the X Windows. Works OK in the setup.
And the moused -p /dev/psm0 works properly. When X WIndows is started the mouse jerks to the side of the screen and only moves sporadically.

I have tried several different mice including serial, and PS2 type.

I have modified the /etc/rc.conf and /etc.XF86Config files extensively. All to NO avail.

Fix:

I think you should re-write your mouse drivers. This box works OK with Linux or SCO installed on it.
How-To-Repeat: I have re-installed FreeBSD 4.3 in several different ways, still no good. I have tried all kinds of settings in the Bios of this system (Clone AMD K6 333/128MB Ram/10GB IDE ATX System)

This is almost certainly user error: mice work fine in FreeBSD,
in X and in console mode. If you're still having problems,
send email to the questions@FreeBSD.org support list will full
details of the commands and configuration files you have tried.
