Description dougy 2001-05-23 10:30:01 UTC
Installed apache 2 from ports, after rebooting system I noticed an error message "Cannot determine the PREFIX". Similar message appears toward the end of the bootup messages. The messages appear to be generated by /usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache.sh. According to regulars in the apache newsgroup "comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix", the apache.sh file is something peculiar to FreeBSD (its not included in default apache installations. Apache works fine when its started manually, but until the apache.sh script is fixed it won't start automatically on boot.

How-To-Repeat: Install apache 2 from ports in FreeBSD 4.3 RELEASE

Are you still noticing this problem as its the same script that apache13
uses without any problems.

Seems to use same apache.sh as 1.3(which doesn't have problems)

I tested it on 5 FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE machines.
but all of they was ok.
Hmm.. (It's same to apache13's one. and
apache2 has many problems itself, certainly. :)

Can you diff /usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache.sh
against /usr/ports/www/apache2/files/apache.sh?
