Description dgilbert 2001-05-24 23:00:02 UTC
Some time ago, I added the GLE port to the tree with the intention that
I'd ask for it to be included here. When GLE is added to XScreenSaver,
several cool screen hacks are added to the tree. I just updated the GLE
port to keep it up-to-date.

I'm not positive if the current pkg-plist is correct, either. I
generated this one with a find -newer on my machine. I believe it
to be more correct ... and ... of course it includes the new
hacks' files.

How-To-Repeat:
make install with my patch :)

I actually evaluated this myself not too long ago. Frankly, I wasn't
impressed with the few hacks that use the extrusion library, and defintely
wasn't impressed enough to add the dependency. This port already has a lot
of them, and I didn't think the cost::benefit was high enough. However, now
that someone has actually ported libgle, it's worth another look I suppose.

Well, instead of casting aspersions and including a huge patch in your PR
you should have taken the time to look at the current plist and realize
that it's sorted, as the handbook recommends. :)

libgle was an easy port to make and I am the maintainer. I'd be
willing to maintain xscreensaver, too ... since I usally track it very
closely anyways... but I don't want to step on anyone's feet, either.

mmm... thought about that about 20 minutes after I sent the pr. Note
that I did couch my language with "I'm not sure that" .... :).

The number of gle-hacks is growing. The future potential is cool,
too.

Dave.
