BIRD 2.15 was released yesterday. After fixing headers (see bug 277618) it builds and runs fine on FreeBSD. 

Probably these headers should be provided locally in a fixed version to make the port buildable so my patch needs to be reworked.

BIRD 2.15 is a problematic version that is not production-ready[1], I am running it without issues though. There will probably be a 2.15.1 bugfix release soon.
