How-To-Repeat: Try to boot with pointed hardware.
Possilble problem: hard disk (ATA).

Try cvsupping..this problem may be fixed.  In general please report
these problems to the mailing list first before resorting to GNATS.

One of the suggestions was to CVSup to a newer version of 4.4. 
Since 4.4-RC a few things have changed in RELENG_4. 
Does this problem still cause trouble to you with more up-to-date 
versions of FreeBSD 4.x?
