Bug 30117

Summary: make depend fails if IP6 is not included in conf file
Product: Base System Reporter: sysadmin <sysadmin>
Component: kernAssignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description sysadmin 2001-08-27 07:40:01 UTC
Have tried roughly 15 different configs: make depend always dies (not necessarily at the same place) if the conf file (/sys/i386/conf/xxx) does not include

       #options INET6

Fix:

Leave IP6 support in conf file :-(
How-To-Repeat: Here's a slightly modified GENERIC that fails:

This is almost certainly a local fault. Rationale: (1) this is
failing with a sig11, which often indicates hardware trouble[1]; (2)
this is failing in vinum, which has nothing at all to do with inet,
let alone inet6; (3) I just compiled an -RC1 kernel without INET6 and
it builds and works just fine.

I think the '#' was a typo/braino/something-like-that. He commented
it out in his kernel config, and just pasted the entire line.

Sig11 normally indicates a local hardware problem. Sounds like a local
hardware problem, as nobody else needs INET6 to build the kernel.
