the loader manpage references an obsolete variable and doesn't indicate
you can successfully set kern.ipc.nmbufs via the loader.

Umm, could you please be a bit more specific?
Which one is obsolete?

This appears to be a duplicate of docs/32020.  I'm closing this one 
since 32020 also describes a way to start working on a fix for 
loader.8 manpage.  Thank you for working on this :)
