Bug 30784

Summary: 4.4 does not install KDE or Gnome+Sawfish - AOUT problem
Product: Base System Reporter: andrew
Component: i386Assignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.4-RELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description andrew 2001-09-23 22:30:15 UTC
I was able to install KDE after attempting to build the ports (XFree86 and KDE).
After attempting to build, I was able to get the package to install.

uname -a says:
FreeBSD catnip.grillet.home 4.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE #0: Tue Sep 18 11:57:08 PDT 2001
murray@builder.FreeBSD.org:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386

(.home is behind the firewall)

Bonobo is broken. It cannot build.

regards

Andrew

Fresh install on clean HD. Base installation goes OK.
X installs and runs.
Attempting to install KDE or Sawfish+Gnome from /stand/sysinstall fails.
Error cited missing AOUT files to do with xpm.
[Installing same from packages has same problem. Installing from ports still in progress 24 hours later!]

How-To-Repeat: Fresh install from CD ... select KDE as desktop in /stand/sysinstall.

Hmm.. I thought I tested installing this software and it worked
fine. What if you choose the Xfree86-aoutlibs package first?
