Product: Base System Reporter: curriki <curriki>
Component: i386Assignee: Remko Lodder <remko>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.4-STABLE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description curriki 2001-09-29 23:40:01 UTC
i belive that this bug appeared in the RELEASE-4.2

the installation process don´t show the Kernel Configuration Menu and
when show the sysinstall menu, the keyboard don´t work and can´t select
the different options.

the installation process is booted with floppies (kern.flp and mfsroot)

Fix:

i find out a solution a little botch (it´s published in
www.eldemonio.org/acer.txt):

1) begin to install freebsd with a keyboard that work in freebsd.
2) changue the flags (0x1 --> 0x0) in kernel configuration.
compile the new kernel or save changues in the Kernel Configuration Menu
of the install procces (mfsroot.flp).
3) changue the keyboard by the ACER keyboard.

the ACER keyboard work well :) , but the leeds don´t work. :(
this solution isn´t very eficcient and i think that is a bug that can have
a easy solution. i hope that in the next release is resolved.

good look and my congratulations since Spain by to do the best operating
system. :)
How-To-Repeat: how can i capure screens o text in that moment?

the installation process is booted with floppies (kern.flp and mfsroot)
in the first floppy (kern.flp) the keyboard work. so the leeds.
in the second, the keyboard don´t work.

part of my dmesg:

Is this still a problem on a more recent system?

No reply possible from maintainer since there are mailbox quotas
active (giving a 5xx error). I will retry in a couple of days,
if needed I can reopen the Pr then. Close it for now.
