Summary: "man" fails because groff seg faults
Product: Base System Reporter: Michael C. Brenner <mbrenner>
Component: gnuAssignee: ru <ru>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.4-RELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Michael C. Brenner 2001-10-31 05:40:00 UTC
In the binary distribution install one of the libraries used causes it to seg fault on free(). We reproduced this on a new pIII 500 box and on an old P166. I did not ID the faulty library.

Fix:

Install the src tree for base, contrib, include, and groff (I just used /stand/sysinstall and the CD)

cd /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/groff/
make
make install
FIXED !
How-To-Repeat: Install the binary from the 4.4-RELEASE CD1.
enter the command:
tink$ groff

and you get a segmentation fault
