Bug 33626

Summary: Disk crash: (da7:ahc1:0:6:0): Data sync error - recommend reassignment sks:80,2d
Product: Base System Reporter: jfh <jfh>
Component: miscAssignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.4-STABLE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description jfh 2002-01-07 02:00:02 UTC
My news server is crashing with the following error:

(da7:ahc1:0:6:0): READ(10). CDB: 28 0 0 5b 30 a8 0 0 10 0
(da7:ahc1:0:6:0): MEDIUM ERROR info:5b30b4 asc:16,4
(da7:ahc1:0:6:0): Data sync error - recommend reassignment sks:80,2d

I figure this is a bad disk and it needs replacement, but I'd like to
know if there's any way to salvage it.

Fix:

Unknown.
How-To-Repeat: Run news for a while.

Low level format disk from your SCSI controller's menu.
This is not FreeBSD error - you must not fill PR.

Not a real bug report...please use freebsd-questions@freebsd.org for
inquiries of this type.

Personally, I'd try to copy off as much data with tar or dump/restore
as possible...good luck.
