I used http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/query-pr-summary.cgi?query to search
for "extraneous" in single-line fields and it didn't find
docs/29526 or docs/32462 which have the word in their "Synopsis".

That's because the two PRs you mentioned are closed already. 
You have to check 'Closed reports too' to see them :-)

They're also closed.  Try checking the "closed reports too" box.
