Description Murray Stokely freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2002-04-04 07:20:01 UTC
The Handbook does not talk about using FFS Snapshots, a new feature in
5.0-CURRENT. Documentation is available from Kirk McKusick's Usenix
papers, and in /sys/ufs/ffs/README.snapshot.

A basic section on this functionality should exist with pointers to
more informatin.

Fix:

Open a PR, and hope someone has time to document this before you do.
How-To-Repeat:
Try to use FFS Snapshots to make consistent backups of a live file
system.

I told murray that I'll do this. Hence, assign it to me.

Committed! To the disks chapter, right before quotas, I felt this was the
most likly spot to place this information. If you feel otherwise, murray,
please let me know.
