Bug 38091

Summary: <4.6-prerelease "loses" PM drive>
Product: Base System Reporter: Pete Toscano <pete-freebsdbugs>
Component: kernAssignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.6-PRERELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Pete Toscano 2002-05-15 02:20:03 UTC
I'm tracking RELENG_4 with cvsup. On my current machine,
I installed 4.5-RELEASE and upgraded with cvsup. The last
time I did an update was maybe two or three days ago. I did
a buildworld, installworld, buildkernel, and installkernel.
No problems. When I boot to the new 4.6-PRERELEASE kernel,
the kernel does not detect the ar0 or ad4 devices and, since
the root parition is on that device (ad4s1a), the system
cannot boot. If I boot to the loader, unload the new
kernel and load the 4.5-GENERIC kernel, everything works.

Fix:

No fix yet. Just boot into the 4.5-RELEASE kernel.
How-To-Repeat: Boot the 4.6-PRERELEASE kernel built using the GENERIC
	config.

Has this situation improved since 4.6-PRERELEASE? Quite a few bugs in
the atapi system have been plugged, but I'm not sure if this one has.
