Bug 41458

Summary: sendmail port post-install messages wrongly refer to 'make mailer.conf'
Product: Ports & Packages Reporter: fred <fred>
Component: Individual Port(s)Assignee: Dirk Meyer <dinoex>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me

Description fred 2002-08-09 01:40:04 UTC
The messages displayed after installing sendmail[-sasl] say to do a 'make mailer.conf', but there is no such target in /etc/mail/Makefile

Fix:

Possibly add variables to make.conf and add a mailer.conf target to the makefile, or maybe the port should be overwriting it. Perhaps the best solution would be for the port to move the whole thing over to /usr/local/etc/mail.
How-To-Repeat: Build and install a sendmail port.

Nobody said you cd to /etc/mail/

The target in in the port:
/usr/ports/mail/sendmail-sasl# make mailer.conf

Doh! I was using portinstall to install the sendmail-sasl port, and so the
context was not there. Perhaps the messages could be edited to give fully
qualified path names to remove the ambiguity.
