After mounting shares from Windows 98 by mount_smbfs, directories with russian filenames not opened or looks like empty. Directories on shares from Windows 2000 works fine.

How-To-Repeat: In the shell run:
mount_smbfs -E koi8-r:cp866 //username@Win98WS/sharename /mnt
Win98WS/sharename must contain directories with long russian names
cd /mnt
cd <long russian file name>
ls
