Description Ulrich Spoerlein 2002-10-16 21:20:01 UTC
I made a patch to update libtool to version 1.4.3. This patch is by no means complete and i *bet* there are some issues with it. I just made it, because i need it to bootstrap the QuakeForge CVS.
I compiled several ports with this new version and haven't had any errors (yet).

Fix: here is the patch, i hope it works...
How-To-Repeat: To really use this patch, you have to remove/alter the check for the libtool-version in Mk/bsd.port.mk around line 2655.

Over to portmgr since libtool is both a dangerous and often misleading
path into ports' territory. All such core tools should be handed
with care. Besides, portmgr members have been the last ones committing
to this port.

Hello!

What's about creating a libtool14 port to let it stay side by side with
libtool 1.3? Like it's handled with autoconf/automake. Some of my ports
are actually upgrading their requirements to libtool 1.4. So i can't
update them furthermore. I bet I'm not the only port maintainers with
these "problem".

  Greetings, Oliver
