Bug 52925

Summary: Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 motherboard hangs on ACPI shutdown
Product: Base System Reporter: Jay Rossiter <cryptographite>
Component: kernAssignee: acpi-jp
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 5.1-CURRENT
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Jay Rossiter 2003-06-04 12:20:13 UTC
The Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 motherboard hangs at any point where ACPI is shut
down. (acpiconf -d, shutdown, reboot, halt)

Fix:

Workaround: Boot with ACPI disabled.
How-To-Repeat: Install FreeBSD 5.1 on a machine with the Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 motherboard
	 installed.
At the end of setup, the machine will hang while rebooting. (Requires a
	 hard reset)

After rebooting, login as root, and use "acpiconf -d" to disable ACPI.
System hangs instantly, and requires a hard reset.

For a workaround, you can do:
  echo "hint.acpi.0.disabled=1" >> /boot/loader.conf
Without that, please try a more recent -current (Aug 1 or later) and let
me know if it is fixed.

So you're saying that I can close this PR and ACPI does not need to be
disabled for you?

From what I'm able to tell, yes. Everything now appears to be
working. The PR was reported at 5.1-RC, I believe...

User reports recent ACPI changes have fixed this (probably the imports
of more recent acpica).
