Bug 61739

Summary: Errata for 5.2 - problem with large AGP Apenture sizes
Product: Base System Reporter: Mikkel Georgsen <mikkel>
Component: kernAssignee: Simon L. B. Nielsen <simon>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 5.2-RELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Mikkel Georgsen 2004-01-22 17:50:15 UTC
If AGP Aperture Size is set to a value above 256MB, the kernel panics in both normal, non-acpi and safemode - using the 5.2-RELEASE CD1. Unfortunaly I only have one motherboard (KT600 chipset based) with support for larger Aperture sizes. I've tested with bootonly-5.2-CURRENT-20040122-JPSNAP.iso and it works flawless with a AGP Aperture Size at 1024MB.

Fix:

Set AGP Aperture Size to 256 or lower value or use newer bootcd (bootonly-5.2-CURRENT-20040122-JPSNAP.iso works fine).
How-To-Repeat: Set AGP Aperture Size above 256 and boot up 5.2-RELEASE CD1.

I talked with the submitter about this problem so I will
look at getting it in to the 5.2 errata.

Close PR since 5.3 is out now. Sorry about not getting this into the
errata, but at least having the PR in the database made it possible
for other people to find the workaround here.
