Fix: 

No idea, but I think I could investigate this issue if someone could provide me some RPM-debugging tips.
How-To-Repeat:       cd /usr/ports/emulators/linux_base
or
      cd /usr/ports/emulators/linux_base-8

You get an analogous error with linux_base 7.1 then, right?

If you do "kldstat" after attempting the installation, is linux.ko listed?

Yes.

It is compiled in kernel.

I was able to install binary package for linux_base, which works just great
with some Linux software, but I'd really like to kill this bug.

The submitter answered my questions.  I haven't seen this problem 
on FreeBSD 5.x so I should check for it on -STABLE.

The environment and port version in this PR are very old now. 
The port has seen 30 revisions since this problem was reported. 
If you can reproduce the error on a recent system, please 
file a new PR with as much information as possible and CC: 
me on it.
