Responsible Changed From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-qa sysinstall problem. State Changed From-To: open->feedback Unfortunately, this PR languished. Could you let us know if the problem still exists in a more recent FreeBSD version, such as 6.3 or 7.0-RC1? ----- Forwarded message from "Jin Guojun [VFFS]" <j_guojun@lbl.gov> ----- From: "Jin Guojun [VFFS]" <j_guojun@lbl.gov> To: rwatson@FreeBSD.org Cc: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org I need a week or two to set up a test bed. Once it is done, I will get back to you. Thanks, -Jin ----- End forwarded message ----- State Changed From-To: feedback->open Submmitter confirms that the problem remains. ----- Forwarded message from "Jin Guojun [VFFS]" <jin@george.lbl.gov> ----- Retested on 6.3-Release and problem remains. After installed 6.3-R from a CD and went to post configuration -> network -> interface, pick ti0 and choose DHCP, nothing happened and NIC board lights are off. Altr-F4 to goto the console, ifconfig showed ti0 is inactive. Typed in "ifconfig ti0 up", then board board light became green, and NIC is active now. -- ------------ Jin Guojun ----------- v --- jin@george.lbl.gov --- Distributed Systems Department http://www.dsd.lbl.gov/~jin Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA 94720 _______________________________________________ freebsd-bugs@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-bugs To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-bugs-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" ----- End forwarded message ----- Both 6.3-R and 7.0-R have the same problem. The fix should be simple, I just do not know where in the installatin process to look at. What needed to fix it is to have "ifconfig ti0 ... up" -- make it UP. Maybe something more, but what looks like is the installation only does "ifconfig ti0 IP/MASK", because after installed from CDROM, I saw IP and MASK are set, but no "UP" show in ifconfig output. After type in "infconfig ti0 up", then NIC starts to work. Responsible Changed From-To: freebsd-bugs->brucec Take.
