Product: Base System Reporter: Phil Richardson <prichardson>
Component: i386Assignee: freebsd-i386 (Nobody) <i386>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Phil Richardson 2004-05-08 17:10:18 UTC
Although the kernel attempts to load, and in 5.2.1 the opening options screen appears, when you attempt to go further the machine hangs for a few seconds before powering down. Using any options (such as disabling ACPI, makes no difference). The debug option shows ACPI being loaded and then nothing else.

I suspect its unsupported chipsets thats causing the problem - but if anyone can advise if this is a known problem or a fix-around then please advise.

How-To-Repeat: Installing on a Compaq!

Dupe of amd64/67745 (which is really not amd64 specific).
