Description Jens Röder 2004-05-10 17:40:16 UTC
I tried to install a FreeBSD on a digital workstation 600au. During booting the minimal installtion CD of version 4.9, 4.10, 5.2, the kernel ends up with:

unexpected machine check:

mces    = 0x1
vector  = 0x660
parm    = 0xfffffc0000006068
pc      = 0xfffffc000041f2e0
ra      = 0xfffffc0000651af4
curproc = 0

panic:  machine check

directly after the 15 seconds waiting to sattle for the scsi devices.

No chance of Installtation.

the 5.2.1 version instead boot without problems but during installation process, it errors about DMA:

isp0: dma error for command 0.0.0

this it does in endless lines obviously for every file until the machine hangs

I certainly need help here ...

How-To-Repeat: simply boot it with the iso images 4.9, 4.10, 5.2 for the first problem and try to install with 5.2.1 for the second

Please retry using 5.4 and a CURRENT snapshot.
Have you tried removing/moving the isp0 interface ?
( IIRC this is a swappable pci card )

Jens,

is your alpha problem still an issue or can we close this PR?
