Bug 70814

Summary: Snort port installation clobbers local.rules file
Product: Ports & Packages Reporter: jez.hancock <jez.hancock>
Component: Individual Port(s)Assignee: Sergei Kolobov <sergei>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description jez.hancock 2004-08-22 08:10:03 UTC
The snort port installation overwrites the file %%DATADIR%%/local.rules
(usually /usr/local/share/snort/local.rules) which is commonly used to
override globally set rules with machine specific local rules.

Fix:

Some amendment to the port installation process to check for existence
of local.rules file first before copying the file over.

I will fix this problem together with an update to 2.2.0
after the ports tree freeze is over.
